It’s August, which means approximately two-thirds of the year has gone by and I am currently supposed to be shaming myself into getting back on track with my reading challenges, of which I entered five. Read on to find out how I plan to finish the year out strong!
I willingly admit that I have been terrible at actually following my challenges, which was probably clear to you from my April post, in which I first admitted to having trouble. Back in April, I had read nine out of 84 books, so I’m glad to say that that number has increased, although I do wish my progress had been a bit more substantial. I have now read 24 of my challenge books, and I have a couple more out from the library, so I will likely have those on my September TBR.
From here on out, I think the key is motivation. I'm actually super excited to read all of my challenge books, but I just had to get myself back in the mindset I had when I chose them. Some have been on my TBR since the dawn of time (looking at you, Life of Pi!), and others are new to me. If I can just rediscover some of that reading mojo that comes when I'm totally in the zone, I'll have a green light to plow through the rest of these books. Also -- I’ve just realized that I never actually went over which books I’ve selected to fill certain challenge slots, so I’m sharing my spreadsheet with you! I’ve got color markers to indicate which challenge each book belongs to, and I’ve given green highlights to those I’ve already read so far. Orange is Read Harder, blue is Book Bingo, purple is Swords and Stars, and pink is Popsugar.
