Bear with me if some of these recs miss the mark, please! I'm always up for a challenge, so I jumped on the opportunity to step out of my wheelhouse and recommend books for a fan of the titles on the left. For each book, I offer two thematic matches across any genre, and most have at least one specific YA. Happy reading! I know it seems like I spend all my time recommending the same books, but I have a lot of love to go around! Read my reviews of Pride, Dream Country, They Both Die at the End, and Fresh Ink to see why.
In honor of my friend, who loves fantasy books and had a milestone yesterday (congratulations!), I've assembled a list of upcoming fantasy that she (and you) might enjoy. These are releasing throughout the Spring/Summer and Fall seasons, so you'll have something wonderful to start every month. Happy reading!
The Graphic Novel. Not a new art form, but one with rising popularity, especially in YA. With more and more being published, I figured I'd put together a short list of my most-recommended graphic novels. Some are classics, others hidden gems. Some I've reviewed (Pashmina), others I'm ordering soon (Bloom).
It's April Fool's Day! And I want to share with you some books that made me laugh out loud. I usually don't recall when a book is funny, unless it is notable for being so, but I managed to pull together this list that I think you will all enjoy as well.
Whether you're looking for an adventurous hero or a tale of star-crossed love, these books will get you lost in time for a while (at least until you reach the end)!
I will freely admit to ignoring popular releases until I know they'll be worth my time. Sometimes I read a book and discover it didn't reach my expectations, and I would never be able to write a gushing review or feature it in prop-heavy bookstagram flatlays. But here I am, fully endorsing six widely-publicized releases of 2019 that I'm guaranteed to read. January 2019

March 2019For those just beginning to explore the YA genre, fantasy is a great place to start. High fantasy especially, with the creation of new worlds, allows characters to pull at your heartstrings in brand new ways. Here are a few of my favorite fantasy reads. They represent a range of adapted mythologies and stories from all over the world, and have characters with diverse sexualities, because even though these characters live in worlds that aren't ours, their stories must reflect the identities of people on Earth, and we are not all one and the same.
